Todays rowing time: 3 mins 52.8 seconds
Last friday I was only trying to row as fast as I could, today however, I was racing against myself. Having a previous time to beat meant that I pushed myself that bit harder to try and achieve a faster time. As you can see I won :-D

Congratulations! Did you find it more enjoyable having a target to beat?
Shaving seconds off is just what champions do. Well done!
Well done! I had a similar experience when, as a young curate, I took part in a charity cycle ride to raise funds for a new bell tower. Every day I had to cycle (few cars in those days!) from my lodgings to St. Biddulph's and I too raced against myself. How encouraged I felt on the days that I won! You see, life is very much like a bicycle ride.
